Mixing media in your artwork is a lot of fun.
Recently I ran a series of demonstrations in the shop as part of 4017 Bayside Open Studios to share the joy of mixing media in your art practice.
It can be intimidating to know where to begin but once you start the whole process becomes one joyful experiment to push the boundaries and see what marks are possible. Over a series of sessions artists combined a variety of mediums, focussing on materials that they had perhaps not had the chance to use before.
These are some of the combinations we explored in the demonstration:
- Oil Pastel w. Watercolour & Gouache
- Watercolour Pencil with Watercolour & Gouache
- Watersoluable Pastels w. Watercolour
- Watersoluable Graphite w. Watercolour & Gouache
- Ink w. Watercolour & Gouache
The world is your oyster with mixed media, you’re really only limited by your imagination.
What combinations do you like to use?
