Arthouse Northside hosted our first still life drawing session for the year earlier this week.  Leah led the exploration of water soluble pencils with a small group of local artists.

We drew interesting shaped capsicums as our subject matter, we were able to explore:

  • Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer Watercolour Pencils
  • Derwent Inktense Pencils
  • Faber-Castell Aquarelle Graphite
  • Artgraf Graphite
  • Lyra Aqua Crayons
  • Caran D’Ache Neo II crayons

The stand out favorite new discovery was the Derwent Inktense pencils and the water soluble crayons.

The drawing session started with some fun exercises such as taking our pencil for a walk and creating form with shapes.  We finished off our time with a 45 minute long drawing session where we had the chance to use all the mediums we had tried.

The feedback from participants has been extremely positive with a particular focus on the relaxed, fun and enjoyable experience.  Many have already booked in to join us for future drawing sessions scheduled this year.
